HISE documentation
HISE Serial Activation
Use owner proof and the supported claim workflow instead of treating serial text as sufficient identity.

Serial outcomes
| State | Customer path |
|---|---|
| Unknown or invalid serial | Show the error; do not collect an identity to invent access |
| Known unclaimed serial | Use the supported identity/email verification claim |
| Serial with an existing owner | Prove the owner identity through login or owner-email verification |
| Owner mismatch | Do not transfer the serial or collect another owner's information |
| CUSTOMER_ACCOUNT_EXISTS | Use the existing account login or password-reset path |
| Device limit reached | Review/deactivate a permitted device rather than resetting ownership |

Complete a supported claim
-
Submit the product-scoped request
Use the configured integration credentials, serial context, and stable machine identity.
-
Follow the returned claim state
Start verification only for a supported known serial and required identity path.
-
Verify
Use the customer email link or supported code flow; do not treat pending status as activated.
-
Refresh the claim result
Use the supported claim-status/activation path and the newest returned state.
-
Activate and validate
Apply entitlement and device limits, then persist only allowed package state.
Redemption and activation are separate
A qualifying external/free serial claim can be counted as an external redemption. Subsequent normal validation or device reactivation is not automatically another redemption. See the fee guide for the actual usage definition.
